Pretty cool little utility. Works well on XP.
Use on a notebook or laptop for a portable, high bitrate mp3 recorder. Get this version 1. The newer version 2. is not freeware.

Very easy to use. Produces clear MP3 recordings. The only shortcomings is the volume control is a bit too sensitive (i.e., small change in the control makes a huge change in volume) and you cannot test the volume control before starting a recording. However, once the volume control is set, it seems to be the right volume for most audio sources. I would give this a rating of 4 1/2 stars out of 5.

Although the visual appearance is very slick, the functionality is very limited. No way to set the volume level, no choice in bit rate (though I happen to like 128K), but worst, no audio to speakers, so no way to tell when a given piece is done
